Born in Uruguay, Gabriela Perezutti Hearst grew up on her family’s ranch surrounded by horses and cattle. After attending university in Uruguay, she moved to Europe to pursue modeling. From there, she ventured to New York City and founded the women’s fashion company Candela. Among numerous international magazine publications, Harper’s Bazaar recently named Gabriela as one of the world’s best-dressed women, featuring a twelve-page spread of her among horses in the rural California landscape.
One of Gabriela’s favorite quotes is by the esteemed dance choreographer Bella Lewitt, who said, “To move freely, you must be deeply rooted.”
Gabriela is honoring her family’s heritage through the launch of her eponymous label in Fall 2015, as well as taking over the operations of her father’s ranch in Uruguay after his passing. She currently lives with her husband and their children in Manhattan.
